Pfizer in the UK and Ireland have extensive experience of Mirashare in Action

Pfizer rely on Mirashare to drive their Environmental Health and Safety management programme in sites throughout the UK and Ireland.

Pfizer have been using Mirashare for ten years and now have it installed at seven sites in the UK and Ireland.  Ger Barry, Pfizer’s EHS Team leader at their Little Ireland facility talks about Pfizer’s use of Mirashare and the benefits they gain.

“There are three main benefits I’ve seen from using Mirashare” says Ger. “Firstly the culture, secondly the proactivity and thirdly the unburdening of people from administration.”   

Mirashare supports a health and safety Culture

The cultural shift that Mirashare helps to create stems from its usability and its transparency.  Mirashare is very simple and intuitive for the users so everyone on-site, be they employees or contractors, can use the system. “Induction takes two minutes – it’s that simple” says Ger. “It’s much easier than filling in forms”.

Because it’s easy to use people do use it. Where previously people may have waited until an accident happened before reporting anything, now all incidents including near misses are comprehensively recorded because it’s really easy for people to do.  “We are seeing about 500 incidents being reported per annum.” Ger says. “Each of these is an opportunity to improve and provides excellent data to spot potential problem areas. “

All incidents are automatically managed through to resolution. Email escalation ensures that management know what actions are required and which are outstanding. The fact that everyone can see the status means that there is nowhere to hide. “We have 100% transparency. Issues can’t be ignored. The functions take ownership of health and safety in their area because they have the data and the tools to make a difference, and it’s very clear to management if people aren’t stepping up to the plate. “ 

Proactive Management Supported by Mirashare

The fact that Mirashare encourages reporting means that teams have the data they need to proactively manage safety.  The powerful trending capabilities of Mirashare allow prediction of where accidents are likely to occur with a high degree of accuracy. This means that action can be taken before an accident occurs. “We have seen zero LTAs (lost time accidents) for the last three years” said Ger.

Mirashare lets you Work on the Actions not on the Reports

Because Mirashare is very powerful, highly automated and highly customisable it takes much of the administrative overhead out of an EHS Management System.  “During the implementation phase, which takes about a month, all our incident reports, risk assessments forms, audit and inspection records are customised to our exact requirements and workflow is captured.”  explained Ger.  Mirashare then stores everything on your intranet or on hosted servers in the cloud accessed via a browser.  All this means that people spend time working on actions that will produce results not on burdensome administration.  Because historical risk assessments, audits and inspections are stored and actions tracked in one place and in a standard format they are easy to access and to use.  It’s simple to update the reports and show a clear history of progress to inspectors.  Ger is particularly pleased with the ability of Mirashare to handle audits and inspections “We have had really positive feedback from our inspections on our ability to demonstrate performance improvements over time.“
